Are you the Correct Candidate for Teeth Whitening?
Not everyone is considered to be a suitable candidate for teeth whitening. You might have other dental concerns which could aggravate due to the whitening products. Hence, it is always best to consult the dentist if you are thinking of whitening your teeth. People suffering from advanced periodontitis, severe enamel corrosion, and dentin sensitivity must steer clear of teeth bleaching.
This can further weaken your teeth and lead to tooth loss. Chronic bruxism will also render you unsuitable for this treatment due to the excessive pressure placed on your jaws during this procedure. But you must not be disheartened in case you are not selected for teeth bleaching. You can make use of other appliances such as dental veneers to achieve that gorgeous smile.
Certain Pre-Procedural Precautions must be taken
There are certain factors that you must consider to get the best results from your bleaching procedure. If you are suffering from periodontal disease, then you must get it treated before whitening your teeth. Professional dental cleaning right before your bleaching procedure can give you optimum results and increase its longevity. Herein lies the benefits of in-office teeth whitening over kits found in the market.
Mild Discomfort is Common after Procedure
The pores of your teeth enlarge after a bleaching procedure. This could result in extreme hypersensitivity. Consult your dental hygienist if it goes out of hand. You can also opt for painkillers if you are experiencing pain in your oral cavity. This will provide you instant relief and reduce your discomfort.
After-Care is Essential
The next twenty-four to forty-eight hours after your teeth whitening procedure is extremely essential. Follow the instructions of the dentist word to word. In case of any discomfort, you must consult the dentist without any delay. Avoid food and beverages with dark pigments. You also need to stay away from extremely hot or cold items to avoid dentin sensitivity. Take good care of yourself during the recovery period and enjoy a long-lasting pearly white smile.
